One of our primary focuses at Surety Bank, under the financial literacy banner, is to protect and educate our young bank customers. One of the ways we accomplish this is to help our customers who are parents understand the myriad of ways they can guide their students.
We are able to do this through some really innovative features we can offer through our Surety Bank accounts and mobile banking technology. It allows us to do many things to overcome life’s little mistakes and provides you with teaching moments, even if you aren’t in the same room or the same zip code as your students who are learning to use their bank account for the first time.
Turn on/off your debit card
One of the ways we can protect against life’s little mistakes is to instantly disable the use of your student’s debit card from inside our mobile app. Think about the possibility of your student leaving their debit card at a local store, restaurant or even dropping it out of their purse or wallet at school.
By having the Surety Bank mobile app connected to your student’s checking account, it allows you to disable their card remotely. This is possible 24 hours a day. Even if it happens outside of normal banking hours or on a holiday, you can temporarily disable their debit card. Through the Surety Bank mobile app it takes one click to turn it off and turn it back on.
Obviously this is a great mechanism to protect the student and your family against loss in your account, but there is a great convenience factor to help with educating your student. If it ends up being a simple mistake, with one click of a button the debit card is turned back on and life can resume after a teachable moment.
We’ve worked hard to bring this technology to our customers. We think it is a fantastic way to protect, educate and provide a convenience factor to our customers and their loved ones.
In summary, here are 2 reasons a parent would want their students to have this technology:
1. Having the convenience to remotely disable or enable your student’s debit card for teaching about being disciplined with how they budget and spend their money.
2. In the event of a something going wrong, you can remotely disable the card while waiting to get in touch with your student to take further action.
Sometimes we lose things and sometimes there is theft. Having this level of control over your debit card allows you to remove one more stress from your life and your relationships.
